Dear Friends and Business Leaders,
Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threateningmedical conditions through its wish-granting work. The foundation’s mission reflects the ife-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.

We hope you will consider giving the “Wish” children an opportunity to share the power of a wish®. On Saturday, August 12, 2012, you will have the opportunity to become a part of making a wish in the life of a child. Over thirty boat owners will donate their time and the use of their yachtsto give Wish Kids (along with their families) 90-minute boat rides in the Milwaukee harbor.

This year’s fourth annual “Yacht Blast for Kids” will once again include a classic car show, motorcycle fun run, and a sailboat race. The entire afternoon of fun will take place at McKinley Marina and the Milwaukee Yacht Club. Directly following the afternoon of maritime fun, the Milwaukee Yacht Club will host a spectacular evening event featuring great food, entertainment, raffles, and silent/voice auctions. All proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin.

Dear Friend:
You have the power to help grant a wish. Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

In August 2009, a new event was created to build awareness and raise funds for the Foundation. In a single day, “Yacht Blast for Kids” provided over sixty boat rides to wish kids and their families. Following the boats rides, sponsors of the event, along with community supporters, attended an evening party that included dinner, silent and voice auction and entertainment. In 2010 the event tripled in size and over $64,000 was donated to the Foundation.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® means many things to many people. To a physician treating a newly diagnosed child with life-threatening medical condition, a wish has become an important part of their treatment schedule. To the parents of the child, a wish can be a beacon of light during a dark time in their son’s or daughter’s young life. To the child battling a life-threatening medical condition, knowing he or she can wish for anything, a wish takes on a whole
new meaning.

Since Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin was founded in 1984, more than 4,000 children have seen their dreams come true. Last year alone, the Foundation granted a record breaking 318 wishes, and currently there are more than 250 wishes in the process of being granted. As wishes grow in numbers the Foundation continues to be fiscally responsible with
the funds received. We are proud that .81 cents out of every dollar received by Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin goes directly toward wish granting.

Please consider supporting “Yacht Blast for Kids”. Your tax-deductible donation will help make wishes come true and create a moment of joy and laughter for a wish child and their family. If you have any questions about the Foundation’s involvement in this event, feel free to contact me pgorski@wisconsin.wish.org or Cathy Ethington, Director of Development cethington@wisconsin.wish.org or call us at 262.781.4445 . Once again, thank you for helping to share the
power of a wis
h®.
